About Me

Hi! I’m Jessica, a pediatric speech-language pathologist (S-LP) with over 13 years of experience working with children with a wide range of needs.

I look for ways to be creative in all aspects of life. I especially love art and photography. As an S-LP, I use my creativity to make therapy fun and engaging. This includes varying the types of activities and incorporating the child’s interests.

Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) users have unique needs and supporting them in becoming proficient in using their system can be intimidating. Teaching core vocabulary is one way to increase efficiency since core words can be used to communicate a variety of messages in a variety of situations.

I created this blog to share core vocabulary activities to pair with picture books. Some activities are no- or low-prep. Others require specific materials or equipment (e.g., kitchen, playground). My goal is to inspire you in your therapy planning. Let’s get creative in helping children achieve their therapy goals!
